AI Remastering - Under The Hood

While TVEAI is a spectacular piece of software, don't get too excited - this 60-frame snippet had already been rendered in preview mode. I have a relatively high-end setup - and it still takes about 7 seconds to render 1 second of footage at 4K from a DVD source (assuming 24/25 frames per second). To put that in context, it takes about five and a half hours to render a 45-minute episode of Deep Space Nine. When you consider that there are 176 episodes of Deep Space Nine, that's quite a time investment.

The article itself is over 18 months old at this point, so I have modified my processes a bit since then (and the underlying AI tech has improved a great deal over the last year and a half) - but if you're interested, it might give you a kickstart in the right direction :^)

As a normal user, can I use topaz labs to watch my own media AI remastered easily? I know it probably won't be on your level, I'm just curious how much the software does "for me" and how much is DIY.

OMG! Please tell me you have done all of Ds9 and Voyager? I’ve been dreaming about it for 20 years. Either way, if you’ve done them all or not, I’m going to cry!

Hello, I know it's been a long time but to be able to use it without the topaz logo appearing, what do you have to do?what are the options?

It has the Soap Opera effect going on in a few spots lmao
The results aren't that much better than the original. Skin has a wavy motion to it instead of movement sometimes. It's nowhere near as good as remastering from the negative, and it took you DAYS to render?
Oh and it's $299 up front? 🤣 Compared to other services that can do this on THEIR servers FAST for monthly subscription of $20 or less.

A fool and his money are soon parted
