Thank you Jay for preserving history. I'm a 81 yr old guy that has had the love of the automobile from the day I was born. Interesting of late that others born on my birthday Chip Foose, Wayne Carini were also born on the 13th of October with the same love. I hope someday I'll be able to see your collection in person. Thanks again James

Jay's collection is the most important collection of automobiles anywhere. Thanks Jay for picking quality over quantity.

Jay is an automobile legend. I hope he starts a non profit automobile museum to keep his collection together and for people to see.

Thanks, nice overview. Interestingly, Duesenbergs ( esp. the WALKER DUESENBERG) are ART CREATIONS, ETC. ( might mention also, AUBURN, CORD, Avanti, etc.)

You initially said the Bentley Speed Six has a straight-8 engine. More than one online source says it was a straight-6. Look at the exhaust headers.

Whoever has the money at the time will have many versions of transportation in case one's in the garage.

His collection can't be only 80 to a 100 million, if the top 10 alone amounts to nearly 80 million...

The car shown @ 12:01, 12:10-12:20, 12:27...THAT particular car belongs to the Nethercutt Collection..and is one of their most prized & valuable cars.
The younger man shown handling the car..is the Founders Grandson, now the Curator of the collection.

"... _ an era when even the fastest trains could only reach 60mph_ ... "

When the Mercer was made in 1910 steam locomotives had been doing 60mph for many many decades, and by that time the fastest were touching 100mph.

``Jay, you missed the best low emission engine in the world, designed and built in Australia. All the vehicles are in your museum because that's the best place for them. I do believe the Chrysler turbine should have been in the Museum of Modern Art but as an engineer the scrap heap is the alternative. The people who turned these into show ponies instead of work horses missed the boat. I'm sorry to say those who get carried away with the metal bent in different shapes are dreamers. The world loves them.
We all know the internal combustion engine was finished a lifetime ago. It was only a gutsy guy like Ted Pritchard who told the world where they were going wrong.Do it'.

I'm an old fart and I like cars. But aside from the fact that I've had my chances with a couple of cars but couldn't afford to do anything. While not a purist when it comes to restoring vehicles, I'll accept some shortcuts or modifications.
That being said I have a big problem with Leno. He took a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado and had it converted from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive.
That was unacceptable in my book. Obviously he was more about the body styling than the functionality.
When you have as much time and money like him, you'd think he would want to maintain a vehicle as close to factory as possible. In this case he didn't like the front wheel drive, so got rid of it.

As I understand it, you can buy a new Mclaren today. Somebody bought all the parts from the factory and still makes them to order.

Have you been to Jay's garage? Your valuations are off, by a lot.
