Great video and very clear! Subscribed. Maybe the reason there are so many U.K. shares in the Life Strategy Fund is to do with the U.K. currency and maybe relative value of U.K. shares at the moment especially for U.K. citizens. I know what you mean about the allocation though - does seem very high! I wonder if the committee at Vanguard that oversea the LS Fund would consider changing the percentage allocation if the U.K. economy was doing really badly…. Ps I worked out annual returns on life strategy were 10.9% over past 10 years and 12.15% for the FTSE All Cap over past 7 years.

Thankyou so much for doing this so helpful! I'll try to put it to reddit when I get a chance!

Just one question. sorry if its stupid. the all cap is heavily weighted towards us and to tech. But I'm assuming with the way it works as a passive market tracker that if suddenly things changed in terms of the strength of the US and tech the tracker would reflect this and adjust allocations and weightings!

Thanks again!

Brilliant video Hayley. love how in-depth the videos are and how much knowledge you give out. I've been investing for a little while now but I still like to watch all the investing videos just to keep on-top of my knowledge. keep up the hard work. your videos are quality!!

A reason I invested in the VG Lifestrategy Fund was because of the UK biased. But I do understand it does not reflect the world economic market share. But you have to back your home market.

Thanks for the video! I have the all. Aps but want to pair it with another fun that has more assets like bonds etc. Do you have any recommendations of other vanguard funds that would work well with the All Caps?

Thanks for breaking things down for us Hayley❤

It’s a bad comparison, LS is a multi asset fund, should be compared to others in that market section. We don’t compare EQQQ to all caps ?

I don't think the weightings you screenshotted there are correct.

There's no way the underlying shares are 17% Ireland. Probably it's based in some cases on the place the fund is located rather than the underlying shares.

Based on the percentages of the funds, I'd guess it's ~25% UK, ~45% US right now.

I've just done some research on the FTSE 100 and while it started well enough, there were some alarming stats in there, which I did not expect to see:

In roughly the last decade, the FTSE 100 has grown at an average rate of 1.34% per year (so in real terms it's down);. in the last 20 years, the average is 3.31% and even over 30 years it's a mere 3.16%.

By contrast, the corresponding 10, 20 and 30 year annual growth rate of the SNP 500 is 9.73%, 7.83% and 7.60% respectively. It's not even close!

I want the UK to win but I think as an economy we're quite screwed for the next couple years with an energy crisis. The FTSE 100 will be fine but the 250 isn't going to do well from that

Life strategy with exception of uk, it’s a well balanced portfolio to last a long time. US/sp500 out performance will come and go over the years so you don’t want us being overly represented.
