It may sound kind of crazy to most, but I always thought the people who discovered America were the first people in America.

the Florentine merchant and explorer Amerigo Vespucci had figured out that Columbus was wrong, and word of a New World had spread throughout Europe. America was later named for Vespucci. And, as researchers now recognize, neither man was actually the first to discover the Americas.

I'd also like to add that natives in South America have legends about bearded men with light skin. There are even big faces carved into old structures that depict men with long and narrow noses, with beards. That ain't no Asiatic "native." The history of the Americas is probably so much more than we realize, or that we're told.

How about, neither one of them. How can you claim discovering a land that people already live on???

Apparently, there were humans living in what is now the USA, specifically San Diego, 120, 000 years ago. When we say such things as "America was discovered by Columbus", or "America was discovered by the Chinese", or "America was discovered by the Vikings", we are missing a very important point: namely, that there were unnamed humans on this continent far before Columbus, the Chinese, or the Vikings. Further, we must take other factors into account to allow for new discoveries that may place humans in "America" far earlier than the San Diego finding. So, who "discovered" America? Obviously, it was those who were here first--which leaves out Columbus, the Chinese, and the Vikings.

The first to set foot in America besides the natives themselves were the vikings, they crossed in from the north and got their asses whooped by the natives.
