To those struggling with unregulated dopamine after beating your addiction (congratulations btw).
Begin working out immediately to get your dopamine levels back to where it was, along with a job that can earn you money, the act of getting money also gives you dopamine.

Do this for a couple months and you'll be back in track, trust me

Let me make one correction in this video. No, saturated fat does not affect dopamine negatively, nor are there studies to suggest otherwise

I smoked very strong weed (dabs) since I was 16 and used pills (oxy, adderall), lsd a couple of times, drinking and cocaine. I feel like my brain has shutdown, I was once a very smart kid with A’s and now I have the attention span of a goldfish. Feels like I’m watching a tv, like I don’t have a personality nor am I able to have drive for a routine. I’ve abstained from weed and a lot of drugs this year but I haven’t recovered at all. It haunts me everyday I’ll be like this forever. I am almost at the point of begging a doctor for an adderall script to have a life of energy and fulfillness to bring me out of this hole, but I know without adderall I will still be a dumb rock.

Thank you so much doctor. Just hearing that there some hope for me after all is stress relieving.. after the loss of some very close family members I took to drugs to help me cope as I didn’t have anybody. I was only 17 now I’m about to turn 24. I was a yr sober but had a relapse recently. I haven’t touched it since October. I just want to be happy again and not have this incredible sense of doom/despair. Hearing that I won’t be stuck like this forever definitely gave me some sense of relief.
Thank you

From my experience,I think the bond from relationship is vital to break through this problem, whether it's with your parents relatives or friends, every social connection is huge to help. But being abstinent at that time is important too.I hope everyone can go back to their happy time and treat this as test from God to reprogram themselves to become better again. Fight to the end

agree with most of this except the saturated fat part. Saturated fat is not scary and really important for cell membrane and the brain

I'm withdrawing now off fentanyl. I didn't have an enormous addiction but a little is enough with that stuff. I'm mega-dosing vit c, taking B complex, and 5- hyp for night time. I have black seed oil arriving tomorrow, I hear it is a life saver for withdrawals. I'm trying alot because I don't like Suboxone.

Before during and After three neck and back surgeries I was on oxycontin 120 mg daily for 10 years. I stopped taking opiods for 3 years and sadly no improvement to my deteriorated mental states.

Abstaining may help, but in this world there are so many things that stimulate dopamine and you wish to enjoy them. Is there a way to increase the tolerance to dopamine stimulators rather than decreasing the amount of the stimulators?

Abstinence from dopamine or abstinence from the substance? If I were an alcoholic and abstain from alcohol, but then began gambling more, would the dopamine receptors still repair themselves?

I've been doing molly for 5 years and tomorrow I'm going to try again to quit. Can't go to rehab due to deductible. 😢

Thing is, when you reintroduce your substance/behavior after abstinence you only get a short high the first time and then you put yourself in the hassle of getting hooked again to it

Chronic porn addict here been one for 8 years and I stopped porn two years ago, so I was wondering if what your applying is for every addiction and would I need to abstain for a long time to see major results in my brain function?

I thought research showed exercise was the best 😮 not just exercise, but doing structured exercise to challenge your mind and body, like a simple jazz dance routine where you need to keep rhythm and remember the moves.

I am super shocked he emphasized nutrient, but that’s true, having a healthy gut biome is super important, but I’m just not sure if that’s as effective as actually activating your brain and exercising those areas of your brain.

I love to learn so I took a lot of unnecessary nutrient classes, also other science classes like NPB, I honestly enjoy learning anything, such as taking a large variety of exercise classes with some of them professional teachers, but anyways, I have read so many research journals on nutrient and neuroplasticity that I am just not convinced by this video hehe. I think just generally it would also make sense that moving your body and challenging our mind (the way we learn in the first place, which is why physical play is so important for children) would be better for your brain than eating food. But who knows 🤷‍♀️
