Cool video, but spend $29 more and get a Minelab Vanquish 440. It HAS their upper scale Equinox internals at a cheaper price. CONSISTENTLY finds items in "cleaned-out" areas. My 11 year-old uses it and it simply blows everything away in its price-range. Once you learn your machines numbering system for located targets, you'll see its 100% ACCURATE. When you dig, you know you found something worth keeping.

Possibly, could you update the list and include the Vanquish/ Simplex +

What is the best metal detector and best coil matched set? I watch the real gold finding prospectors in Australia, British Columbia, and Arizona and they all use Minelab XP series. They don’t tell you what coil they are using to find deep gold nuggets as far down as 18”. That is the best test, if I could find what matched sets they’re using? Also, need MD”s that are 100% waterproof too, the manufacturers don’t have their priorities right.

Bounty Hunter Quicksilver is a really good one for the money. Used to be 200 dollars now you can buy on Amazon for 75-100 bucks. I like it better than a whites coinmaster I have. Both are nice. I am trying to decide between Garret ace 400 or bounty Hunter land ranger pro.

I have a MD-1005. Technically speaking it's a toy. But I once found a golden ring with it though :D

Why was the Fisher F22 not included in this list? I’m (respectfully) curious as it outperforms both Garrett models in just about every comprehensive test online from what I’ve seen.

The new Garrett 200i with number indexing the values of finds from 1 to 100 uses this latest and greatest Garrett brilliant feature in a really great cheap detector. The only real difference is it uses a smaller coil but that means pinpointing works better, even if depth is reduced an inch or two. Another option and about 150.00 is still reasonable.

Are they all water proof?
I’ve been looking for a good metal detector at a reasonable price that is waterproof

Hmm I just ordered a Tecknetics Delta 4000 and now I'm wondering if I blew it? (It cost about $220 with shipping.)

I'm trying to decide what metal detector to get to replace a Whites XLT that was stolen. However my finances aren't as good so the replacement will have to be much cheaper. This video and comments have me kinda confused. I know that no detector in this price range could compete with the XLT. One I was interested in is one of the Garrett Aces. But the comments sound like it's pretty much poop. I think the Whites Coinmaster is a little out of the price for this test. Then there are the clones MD, Ricomax, Goplus. Those are in the price range but I've never heard of them.

The Garrett does have a headset socket so you can use earphones with it, my only issue with the Garrett is that it has no volume control

Question to the experts: Have Detectors generally gone down in price and higher in quality in the last 20 years?? I recall if you wanted very good detector back then, you'd have to shell out around $1, 000.00 or more, and the ones at around the $200.00 range BACK THEN were mostly crap. But nowadays it seems that the prices are lower, and quality has gone up. I Guess I answered my own question maybe, lol, but still wanted to confirm that with the expert hobbyists.
