In situations where more traction is needed, all Mazda CUVs offer all wheel drive. The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring i-ACTIV All Wheel Drive also has Off Road Traction Assist. These two systems help continue your Mazda driving enjoyment in low traction environments. When there is low traction and the front wheels begin to spin or slip, torque is shifted to the rear wheels for stability and traction.

With the storm we just had in St Louis I was glad to hear the AWD explained before going out. So glad I have my CX9 since last June. This is my 3rd Mazda but my first AWD. Last year after a snow storm I could not get up the hill with my front wheel drive CX5. Thanks for this video

Jonathan! Great video. You need to know something about "traction" on Mazdas. I have two 2021, AWDs...CX5 and CX9. Great SUVs but the OEM tires suck. I changed them with Vredestein Quatrac Pro; wet traction is phenomenal. Also the tires have less rolling resistance, hence MUCH smoother ride. Even my wife who is NOT a car person noticed the difference in the ride. It rains a lot in Alabama...you will REALLY notice the traction difference. ALSO, for those in snow country, the tires are Severe Snow Service Rated (mountain symbol on the tire). Jonathan, do your customers a huge favor and install Vredestein Quatrac Pro tires. And "NO" I don't work for Vredestein, I just live by something my late father taught me when I got my first car many, many years ago, "Never go cheap on tires or brakes, they are your life line." Keep your great videos coming!

I lived in S. California. AWD might be overkill for our weather here. I bought the AWD because I’m used to driving AWD with Subaru all my life. Makes a difference driving AWD all the time. Better handling.

Thanks for sharing, I own a 2021 cx30…….love it! Newer Mazda dealer looks and upgrades going towards lux, put it next to a GLA and they are almost the same size I didn’t do any measurements I drove both vehicles the Mazda was quieter and more responsive way less road noise the GLA I test drove was the AMG package, The interiors were different but definitely the same grade my cx30 is definitely a luxury suv thank you Mazda

I live where snow comes to die. Last winter we had 6 & 1/2 ft. of snow. That sounds like a lot to some but for us it well below average. I bring this up because last winter we had a Mazda 3 with front wheel drive. I never had an issue. I also stuck with the stock Bridgestone all season tires.
We now have a CX-30 with AWD. I'll have to wait till the snow flies again to see if there is a noticeable difference. I'm fairly confident that if it's a normal winter, I'll be glad I have AWD.
Also, Mazda does blue as well as anybody & better than most.

I enjoy your videos, cause you know your stuff. I just purchased a 2023 Carbon Edition a month ago. I have a couple of questions about my vehicle. It was 27 degrees one morning this week and after twenty mins the little blue icon was still on and after I drove about a mile the temp finally came off 120 temp. Is this ok. Also when i turn on my defrost I thought the a/c came on but the icon isn't lit up. This is my first Mazda. I have read the owners manual but it just doesn't explain it to me. Thank you

So is the awd primarily a front wheel drive vehicle until any slippage occurs? What is the floor hump bin rear seat area, which I thought would be for drive shafts for rear wheel drive vehicles? My fwd—awd Honda doesn’t have that hump. Thanks for your videos.
