Beyond Tennis Titles: Ranking the Women's Players with the Highest Win % Across All 4 Grand Slams.

The four Grand Slams – Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open – are the ultimate battlegrounds in women's tennis. But beyond the raw number of titles, a deeper understanding emerges when we analyze win percentages. Here, we reveal the queens of consistency who reign supreme based on win percentage at each major tournament.

Australian Open:

The hard courts of Melbourne Park favor aggressive baseliners. Leading the pack is Margaret Court, the all-time Grand Slam title leader, boasting an incredible 95,2% win rate at the Australian Open. Following closely is Monica Seles with an impressive 91,5%, showcasing her all-court dominance. Nancy Richey, sits at 90%, a testament to her longevity and prowess.

French Open (Roland Garros):

The red clay courts of Roland Garros demand grit and tactical mastery. Iga Swiatek reigns supreme here with an astonishing 93.3% win rate, a true testament to her clay-court dominance. Chris Evert, known for her powerful baseline game, follows with a strong 93.3% win rate. Margaret Court, demonstrating her versatility, comes in at 89.8%.

Wimbledon:

The manicured grass courts of Wimbledon require exceptional precision and volleying skills. Steffi Graf, with an unmatched 90.4% win rate, stands out as the queen of grass. Martina Navratilova, with a close 89.6%, showcases her all-surface brilliance once again. Serena Williams, known for her powerful serve-and-volley game, boasts a respectable 87.5% win rate.

US Open:

The hard courts of Flushing Meadows are known for their fast pace and electric atmosphere. Emma Raducanu is the best, but she has only played 11 matches at the US Open winning 90.9% of them. Margaret Court, displaying her versatility across surfaces, follows with a strong 89.7%. Tracy Austin has the third best score, with a win ratio of 88.6%.

Beyond the Numbers:

While win percentages offer a valuable perspective, it's important to consider the eras these players competed in. The current game, with its focus on power hitting, might present different challenges than those faced by past champions. Some of the results of former legends of women's tennis also come from before the Open Era, where the best tennis players could not compete with each other very often. These players, through their dedication and tactical prowess, have carved their names into Grand Slam history. Analyzing win percentages provides a deeper understanding of their dominance on each unique surface, inspiring future generations to push the boundaries of the game.

Showing Raducanu as the best player in US Open proves how irrelevant this list is...To make the story short; the best one who won most titles, end of story! The rest is just trying to camuflate the reality...

Iga has only played it 4 times, that's why her record is so high, Chris played it 16 times, but her record is MUCH more impressive, she WON it SEVEN times and only lost before the Semis ONCE in her ENTIRE career!

Graf is the only player, male or female, to have at least 4 times at every major.

You should have introduced a minimum of matches to count (Raducana in US Open with some 10 matches being No 1 😂).
The most telling fact of this statistic is that Steffi Graf is in the Top 5 of all 4 Grand Slams as the only tennis player of the modern era. Chapeau!

Emma ahead of Steffi in us open lol😂😂. There should be a certain benchmark in total matches played (for me atleast 20 matches). Emma only played 11 us open matches & Rybikina also the same in Wimbledon. So they shouldn't be in the list. Now according to WTA stats wiki page Graf winning % in US open is higher than Austin if you eliminate her 1 qualifying matches which she lost.

My two all-time favorites, Chrissie and Steffi, in the top five of all of the Slams! 😎

Venus would be much much higher without the grand slam results of the past 5 years

This list is a joke. Player who won 73 games of 82 will have lower percentage than the one who once won all 11 games of 11. Comparison of one title of US Open tournament winner Emma Raducanu vs five titles winner Steffi Graf is ridiculous . We don't know how many of 82 games in US Open Emma Raducanu could win in order to make this comparison valid.

Really Steffi Graf stand out as she is the only player with at least 88% winning rate in all 4 slams with (surprisingly) Evert come close with at least 86% winning rate in all slams. Graf is the only player to win quadruple slam, golden slam in 1988 in all 3 surface. Untill 1977 past players gets benefit of playing only on two surface (clay & grass) in slams but not Steffi. Steffi had the least deviation among men & female in terms of all surface domination. It's difficult to tell her weakest surface. She is truly the GOAT.

I don't agree with the comments that looking at percentage wins is irrelevant, but clearly Raducanu's case is a little silly. But taking a player like Kim Clijsters fx. who only one the AO 1 time was anyway very high up there with her SF's and F's, so i think this is also an important measure of success in an tournament.

Interesting view. Not sure why but I noticed how consistent Hana Mandlikova and Gabriela Sabatini were. They tied in FO and AO percentages and were virtually tied at the USO. Gaby was ahead at Wimbledon by 5%, surprising considering Hana's serve and volley game.
The rest of the percentages fell where I thought they would. I do agree with others that Radacanu's percentage is skewed and some of the other percentages of still-active players could drastically change by the time they slow down or retire.

they should only be counting retired players

let's see what Iga's percentages are after she's played any of them 15+ times.

It makes no sense unless you take the number of matches into account. To take an extreme example, if you only participate in one tournament and win, your winning rate will be 100%.

I wish this list took into account how many matches each player has won at the torunament, and maybe add a criteria of minimum number of matches played toe exclude outliers like Emma Raducanu. Otherwise the list greatly disadvantages players with longer careers.

Emma hasn’t played ends US Opens as soon as she does that number will drop to 50 something 🤷🏾‍♂️
