My self portrait photos start at: 4:30

In this video I will show you how to shoot Self Portraits on FILM. I used my medium format Mamiya RZ67 and a roll of Ilford HP5 pushed to 1600 iso to create some film self portraits.

You can use any type of film camera to produce your own self portrait, also you can use your favorite type of film stock.

This is a tutorial video, so hopefully by the end of the video, you will be able to shoot your own self portraits on film.

Have fun and be as creative as you can when you make your personal self portraits on film!

Thank you for your great video. I have just learned why my photos were coming out blurry. I was basing my focus on the front of the lens, not the film plane like you very helpfully describe. Cheers from Canada.

Nicely explained. I'm starting to consider taking self-portrait and the measuring tape idea is great. It's going to save me a lot of hassle with focusing.

Yo what model was the self timer? I bought 2 from ebay and they both were trash

So you measured first with tape measure than you looked the camera and matched depending what lens you used?

What was your shutter speed for those blurry motion shots?

Not a fancy channel, but still a great one.
You deserve more views.

Nice work! I see you‘ve got our boy Goku Black in the corner 👀. At 3:15 ish when you mention measuring to your eye, I’d like to note that you don’t have to be quite so precise unless you are shooting a low aperture close up. In that case, you may naturally shift position as you move back and forth adjusting things. Check out one of the widely available free DOF charts online to see the approximate “in focus” range for your film format at a given aperture, lens focal, and subject distance. If you select a setting with enough margin for error you can get a sharp result just measuring from your seated position to the camera or you can better account for how much movement will cause you to miss focus. That should be a helpful tip when you forget tape, forget a tape measure, or just don’t have something long enough. When in doubt, stop down.

That's actually a good tip using the measurements on the side of the Mamiya. Great video!

Hey man! I'm curious how you achieved the difference in the clear, low grain photos and the 2 photos at the end that have a lot of grain. If anyone could help, that'd be great!
