For those who aren't native Kannada speakers and/or non-Indians
In Sanatana Dharma we have a practice of worshipping Ganesha/ Ganapati at the start of any work/ task/ program.
This song Gajavadana Heramba is a prayer to Ganapati. This was written by late Dr. Girish Karnad a towering playwright/ actor/ director of Indian film and theater for the play Hayavadana. The song was set to music by another eminent film and theatre playwright/ director B V Karanth. The song's lyrics and music is so energetic that it has become a very popular anthem-prayer in Kannada theatre.

I am just sharing the meaning of the charana (the second stanza)
Oh Adi Prekshakane (Oh! the first/ prime/ chief viewer i.e. Ganesha)
Natakada maalikane (the head/ owner of this play)
Sweekarisai naataka modaka (please accept this modaka offering - a sweet dish that is Ganapati's favourite which is in the form of our nataka)
