What i know from the face-changing technique is from when i was back in 6th grade, (Im a Chinese) so what they do is that they have a string somewhere on their bodies, as soon as they have something covering the mask, they have to pull the string as fast as possible, so it makes the illusion that the mask just changed on its own. The mask itself is made from a soft material, so when it pulled away, it can slide into the clothes smoothly.
