You can pull data from a Hyper-V VM in one of two ways. First, you can use a shared drive. Second, you can create a .VHDX disk and attach that disk to the VM. Transfer the files then attach the virtual disk to the host machine.

Im a former infantryman who incidentally is now a software engineer. This totally threw me for a loop. I’ve only seen Ryan’s military videos.

Sometimes I forget this was a programming channel, that's how I found you. The analysis and story videos are so good I almost forgot how good you are at teaching

“Dance like no one is watching. Encrypt like everyone is” this sticker has adorned my notebook for years. I would gladly buy a tshirt from you to adorn myself

Really enjoyed the video. Found your channel when you started covering the events in Ukraine.

As someone that works in low-level IT at my company, my initial (definitely snarky) thought upon seeing the title of the video was, "Well open Bomgar, get into the device you are working with (VM or otherwise), and either copy/paste or transfer the file over to your computer."

Seeing how it can actually be done in the times I have to use vSphere instead is something I'll keep in my back pocket, but I don't think they'd like me messing with the VMs for the stores in that manner.

As to the shirt idea, I submit the phrase that explains a lot of what I see happen way above my head. Again, low-level IT here. The shirt should, somewhere, say "Invisible Magic" on it because that's the best way to explain stuff to people when they don't actually want to know why/how something happend.

The test for the "invisible magic" answer is pretty easy. No matter your position, if you work in IT and someone asks how something works, and you actually know, the test is to say something like, "I COULD explain it to you. But do you REALLY want to know? Because it'll take a minute." Hence, invisible magic.

I was skipping around, but are you not allowed to use an Enhanced Session to get copy-paste functionality?

Hey Ryan! I love your videos. They are some of my favorite videos I have ever watched. Your videos inspired me even more to serve the U.S military and whatnot. Thank you !

I usually just mount a folder on my host into my VM. I use VirtualBox so I can use vbox shared folders, but samba, nfs etc works too

I develop software with codebase on my host, but running on the VM so this is fundamental
