EUSEW2022 | Digital Innovation Hubs accelerating the digitalisation of Europe’s energy transition

The digitalisation of the energy system opens global markets for SMEs. The European Commission has taken steps towards a platform for digital energy innovation hubs. Involving SMEs holds the opportunity to target global markets and at the same time regional energy systems.

This session aims at identifying the needs, expectations and challenges of an EU-level platform to support innovation ecosystems and to foster the uptake of digital solutions in the energy system. Furthermore, it focuses on strengthening cooperation between multiple funding and innovation programmes unveiling potential to exploit the experiences and networks of involved SMEs, their associations, local and regional business development centres and the local and regional governmental institutions. As key players in the energy transition, utilities shall be involved to express needs and get directly involved in the innovation processes.
