Washington Black and Now We Shall Be Free are high on my list for August releases - no surprises there because they’re literary historical fiction, my fave. 😀 really glad to hear about Women in the Room - not my kind of thing at all but I think my partner will love it. I’m going to grab a copy for her birthday next month. I was one of the people who voted for Sealed for the Not the Booker - it’s an absolutely brilliant novel I think, kind of eco-horror but with so much to say about motherhood and love. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. 😀

I didn't know about Norah Lange, that sounds interesting! I'm always looking out for some good Latin American stuff. Great haul!

This was so great, Eric! So nice to hear about some non-Man Booker books, and lots of these sound brilliant. People In The Room has massively intrigued me - I’m not sure what that premise sounds so good to me, but I’m sold haha! The John Boyne sounds great, too - I need to read of his work. Loved this video😊 (sorry I’m behind on watching people’s videos at the moment - I’m away on holiday!)

So many good books...I want to read them ALL! Cassandra At The Wedding reminds me of a movie from several years ago called Margot at the Wedding with Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

I can't wait to read the new Patrick Gale novel. I loved A Place Called Winter. Such a beautiful book.

Cassandra at the wedding, How are you going to save yourself, Child of Fortune, Sealed and People in the Room all sound interesting Eric. You always introduce me to new titles I haven’t heard of. I just read Warlight but not because it was on the Booker, I just like Ondaatje and it was really good!

👋Eric. Always good to see your cheery face. I love crime fiction. Also love Patrick Gales writing & like you cannot understand why he's not better known world wide.

Another wonderful video! Child of Fortune by Yuko Tsushima has been added to my list. I am happy to say I have bought my own copy of Bellefleur by Joyce Carol Oates. I am really excited about reading my first book by her. As always thank you for sharing your knowledge and excitement with all of us.

So many interesting books! I’m reading A Broken Mirror by Merce Rodoreda for women in translation month. We’re doing Cassandra At The Wedding for London book club, can’t wait. It sounds a little like the plot for Margot At The Wedding. Intriguing!

if I had to choose one of these books, which one would you most recommend? I know that might be a tough question if you haven't read many of these yet but you certainly know more about these titles than I do so your best guess would also be welcome

I read All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews & found it really affecting so was excited about her next novel but I'm afraid the subject matter may be a bit too grim for me. May wait to hear your review!

Love some of the books you picked up Eric. A Ladder to theSky sounds very intriguing. I have to get it, but I need to read The Heart's Invisible Furies first which I got last month. This month I am reading some of the Man Booker nominees. I finished The Mars Room and From a Low and Quiet Sea. Will be reading Warlight, Milkman, and Snap next. Thank you for sharing these wonderful hauls.

Hi Eric! All the books you have here sound so interesting. There's quite a number that I haven't heard of before that I'm gonna check out because of this video :) I'm pretty excited for People in the Room! I've been seeing it quite a bit on BookTwitter these days because of #WITmonth and I'm excited to give it a go once I get my copy. I hope you enjoy reading these books, whenever you get to reading them! (Hopefully soon, I'm quite curious to see how you'd go with these books haha)
