Check out our incredible 1965 Chevy C10 build, "Lo 'n Slo"! This Truck Tech project blends classic patina with modern performance. We found this weathered beauty in Marshall, Texas, and our goal was to keep its vintage charm while adding some serious upgrades.

We started with the legendary 292 inline-six engine and gave it a turbocharger for a whole new level of power. The chassis and suspension got a complete overhaul to achieve that slammed stance. We also powder-coated the frame, installed new suspension components, and meticulously set up the turbo's hot side.

"Lo 'n Slo's" stunning patina is what truly sets it apart. We preserved its sun-kissed look and added some custom touches. Inside, we kept the nostalgic 1965 feel, refreshing the paint, adding new seats and custom panels, and installing shiny new gauges.

Stick around for the grand finale when we take "Lo 'n Slo" for a spin under full turbo boost!

damn, these guys are something else. They're specialized mechanics, work on body shop, welders, painters, restorers and tv show personalities. normally you have to bring in a guy for each of these jobs but these guys do it all.

My dad owned a long bed 65 chevy C-10 with 283 power pack 3 speed in the column. That was the first vehicle I learned to drive on our dirt road farm. It was a tough old truck which we named "Old Blue". We bear hunted, deer hunted, and keep beehives deep in the North Carolina Bays. This truck was even a daily driver to work for my father and served our family well. When I see these trucks it brings back good memories.

When I was watching him put the flywheel bolts in I was wondering about using locktite. I thought back when I was a lot younger, 40 years ago. We didn't use locktite. We just used the term TTT tighter than tight. most of the time using a 1/2" drive ratchet and the breaker bar. The other thing is we didn't use new bolts that often. Even though we cleaned the threads up, There still was some amount of rust left. And I wonder if that helped them stay tight. Now this day and age I would use blue Loctite every time, and torque to spec.

My Grandfather's '66 GMC V6 longbed has been sitting outside behind the garage as long as I've been alive (& im 32!) But its surprisingly solid & looks damn near identical to this. Im hoping to drag it home in the spring & start restoration!

Great show I really appreciated that LT was genuinely upset when it looked like the engine was damaged. It shows that his heart and soul goes into a build. If you get right down to it that’s what this is all about!!!!

Thanks guys for a great build keep up with off the beaten path builds👍

@ (2:13:18) you can hear the flywheel issue starting to happen when L.T. is giving a pull on the back road and the gears are grinding between shifts, and he didn't even notice it.

Imagine the amount of constant cleaning, tidying, organizing etc that must be going on in order to maintain a restoration shop in this pristine condition! A typical shop would have crap everywhere, oil on the floor, McDonald’s wrappers rotting in the corner. These guys must love being able to work in this environment.

I got the Home Alone joke about the crow bar and Wet Bandits immediately, but it didn't dawn on me til later in the video that the dude actually looks a lot like Daniel Stern.

How effective drum brakes are, depends entirely on how you activate them, for example, using compressed air they become very effective. All the big rigs use air activated drum brakes. Here, you have the opportunity to create something really special.

I had a 65 Chevy C10 when I was a kid. The straight six 230 motor was so smooth you had to look at the oil pressure light to see if it was running.

My father worked at the Fisher body Brookpark staying plant in Cleveland OH from 65-67 . He actually did thousands of the stampings.for these trucks. He said in particular: the ones just under each corner of windshield where the bowtie and series 10/20/30 badges fit & the leading edge of the hood stampings. He was 24yrs old just outta the Navy.

Man this makes me miss my 1965 GMC truck from high school so much!! I am so sad I had to sell it many years ago to move across country 😔 I hope I can get another one some day.. Converting to power steering (after my steering box went from quarter turn play to.. broken!) and power disc breaks was a must!!

I actually got to work on one of these too while at my highschool. One of the teachers had one of these and I helped him bring it back, it was a lot of fun and looks fantastic now

Powernation: Here we're working on a full frame off restomod c10 with a crazy powerplant and the best parts possible.

Also Powernation: We found a 78 bronco some guy let us have and a 460 we found at the bottom of the lake, we're gonna reuse literally everything including the full 1978 braking system and only replace (most of the) parts that we're legally required to.

XD

66 c10 with a 350 Buick and th350 under the hood was the car I learned to drive in. Had some interesting friends in high school that were into old cars.

The 292 is a cool engine to go with. Outside of having so much more room under the hood, it can out torque V8's. It was designed as a replacement for the 261 and outperformed many 283s.

The downside is it's a lower rpm motor and a bit of a gas guzzler. With a stroke of more than 4" though (as much as a big block V8), turbo will light this build up. Inline 6's have a very good exhaust sound and inherently balanced.
