After 1 whole year delay GE only give 2 engines??? If this is the case then it will take more than 20yrs to have all 97 tejas with American engines is the biggest blunder of Indian history.

1. What were the penalty clauses for missing deadlines?
2. What was the Plan B of HAL in case of non-delivery?

The idea of reducing dependency on the USA for engines and technology transfers is indeed crucial for India's defense autonomy. Developing and funding the Kaveri engine project is a step in the right direction. If twin Kaveri engines can indeed outperform Rafale's engines, this could significantly boost the capabilities of the TEDBF, Tejas MK1, MK2, and AMCA aircraft. Ensuring proper funding and commitment to the Kaveri project will be key to achieving self-reliance in this critical area.

India creating a situation where they can be easily strong armed by suppliers as they give order to single suppllier after their long testing process. Should have atleast 2 competing suppliers for all orders thereby reducing redundancy.
Engines: GE and Safran
Fighters: HAL and Dassault
Transport: Lockheed and Embraer

If su 57 M comes with tot, then we can think about it.🙄 We can aquire some squadrons for the andaman and lakshadweep, too. The remaining for aour aiecraft carriers and retiring fleet. IAF can get some squadrons also with tot.🤔

It’s true that if IAF procures a fighter, which is similar to what is being developed indigenously, like Saab gripen or su 57, can hamper indigenous programs, however think it like if we get same platform with TOT, whatever tech we get would reduce the technology that needs to be developed first same platform.
If gripen is selected in MRFA, whatever technology is transferred by Saab can be integrated in mk2, similarly if su57 is bought whatever tech transfer happens can be used in AMCA program.

We should have bought atleast 2 squadrons of the SU-57 already. By 2035 (AMCA rollout) we would have 10 years of stealth experience and deterrence and a trained Stealth pilots to move to AMCA.

Even the planning of new strategies will be ready by then.
