PHP Tutorial 3 - Installing Notepad++ (PHP For Beginners)

A source code editing application is every programmers best friend. Notepad++ will allow you to highlight the PHP syntax and make your code easier to write. If you can't use Notepad++ because you don't have windows, google for a list of PHP Editors that have Syntax highlighting enabled.

For all of you mac users, Sublime Text 2 comes highly recommended in place of Notepad++. Both are great, but Sublime Text is cross-platform, meaning that it will work on whichever operating system you have (i.e. Mac, Windows, even Linux).

Ubuntu is a Linux variant (Android on your phone is also a Linux variant) is a free virus free OS which comes with a default editor called gedit which includes syntax highlighting and spellchecking amongst it's features.

I enjoy your tutorial very much. I downloaded notepad++ but the text is not formatted and there is no coloured text. Have I missed something or should I change certain settings?

I have always used Dreamweaver and it does the job for me. But to be a coding programmer I used be using a text editor. What you think, should I stick to dreamweaver or text editor.

I normally don't like paid software and I can't endorse pirated sw, that's illegal ;), (hmm hmm) but PhpStorm is by far the BEST php editor I have ever used.

My installed xampp doesn't do any of the things that you described. no htdocs, no opening yellow page, just the control panel that I can't even access properly.
I really wanna learn PHP so please help me if you can.
