Using Invisalign Teen to Treat Underbite and Impacted Upper Canines

Dr. Janet Stoess-Allen, an orthodontist at Park Avenue Orthodontics in New York City, demonstrates a current case in which is treating a patient who has an anterior crossbite, where the bottom teeth are in front of the top teeth. In addition to the crossbite, he had two impacted canines that she had to surgically expose and forcefully erupt. She treats the patient with Invisalign and shows the current results at one year in treatment. She also shows the changes in the patient's profile as he goes through treatment.

I had Invisalign to treat my class 3 underbite. Listen when I say IT DOESN’T WORK! As soon as treatment is over, the bite WILL IMMEDIATELY come back fairly quick. You use elastics towards the end of treatment, that’s what shifts and the corrects the bite and holds it in place. After treatment, there are no elastics to keep it in place, the retainers alone can’t maintain the pressure without elastic. Notice how there are NONE of Invisalign journeys to correct underbite videos on YouTube!
