The way I look at it is this. He replaced Tobias Harris. Tobias, coming off an 0-9 playoff performance. Tobias, a dude who just disappears when you need him, when Joel went down in the regular season you’d think he would be that 20 ppl game again, nope. He was worse..again. So looking at it as what he adds to the team, PG is a HUGE upgrade for them over Tobias. Who was making max money.

So if Philly can continue to fill out the roster, latest signing in Martin was good, they can compete. They just need another guard and forward. Off the bench. Philly notoriously depends on Joel. Too much so. Say what you want about him, but him going out there with broken bones, broken face, tore up knee, and still playing better than 90% of the guys out there earned him my respect this last postseason. Hopefully we get one healthy run in the playoffs with him.

Looking at trades in hind sight is disingenuous. When they traded for PG he himself was top 3 in MVP voting and shai was an unknown. Also they unloaded to make sure kawhi came there too

paul george didnt matter on the clippers and wont matter on the sixers. players have to play in order to win and matter. players on the bench load managing dont matter and dont contribute to their teams while riding the bench. load management is the weakest shit ever. they are paid to play. not ride the bench

I disagree they are immediately considered championship contender. There's still the bench and coaching needs to be considered. That's not even talking about the defensive liability of Embiid on switches & Maxey's individual D. They also do not have enough high IQ players to orchestrate offense as George not known for that.
