As a Goalkeeping Coach, I'd advise buying a set of aqua-palm gloves for really wet conditions (Sells & Reusch have a decent selection) & if possible buy the VOS no grip Gloves to practice with to improve ones ball handling technique.

Eh? Vaseline acts as a lubricant, so is used to add grip to gloves that have allowed water in? How does that work? Sounds like bs to me, another "slash the socks" trend based on no evidence
