Most of them start from a garage attached to a million dollar house

Actually, Bill Gates's mother is the critical element in his success. She was a very successful business woman and community booster in Seattle and was the president of the local United Way. Through that organization, she knew the national president of the United Way, who just happened to be the CEO or some similar executive in IBM. Through her, Bill was able to sell his first operating system to IBM.

These people promote themselves as "self-made men" but the tuth is their parents were rich to begin with, which enabled their kids to become richer. Contacts are important, but without their parents going them the seed money, they would never have been able to make a cent.

Bill Gates went to a well-endowed school that had the first computer tech. Bill Gates attended Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington, and it was indeed different from most schools at the time, especially regarding access to technology. In the late 1960s, Lakeside became one of the first schools in the U.S. to have access to a computer terminal, which was connected to a mainframe computer at General Electric. This was a rare opportunity, as very few schools or individuals had access to computers in those days.

Dads give something more valuable than money. Yes contacts are key. But without the knowledge the base knowledge and the enthusiasm to learn more it’s useless. That’s dad’s most powerful lesson.

It is true. The contacts are very powerful and important, but if you do nothing with them, they will not benefit you.

Neither of Buffett’s grandfathers were judges. The pic shown when he talks about this is his father who was a stockbroker.
