Andalusia, Alabama

Here is a side trip I took on my trip to Enterprise, Alabama. I stopped here because of the weird shirt statue and the old bell at the courthouse. Am still not sure why there is a shirt statue but it was a decent side trip.

The Andalusia Chamber of Commerce is housed in what was once the main office of the largest shirt manufacturing facility in the state, if not the Southeast. The "Shirt" is in homage to all the thousands who worked like slaves for pennies so that the owner could be filthy rich.

And In Christmas there is a bunch of tiny houses for kids you can go into and a huge tree Every Christmas it’s giant it’s as tall as the courthouse

Poor OPP. That could be such a nice town. There are just not jobs there. It has gone downhill in the last 50 years. Again sad. I hate to see towns die.
