Remastered versions are my favorites. The crisp clear look & sound are what matter most after all 👍🏼

I’ve got volumes 1-3 ultimate editions and I really like the presentations. However a few (including myself) have had problems with them. One major problem is disc rotting on them. Maybe it won’t happen to most, but I’ve had to replace some discs due to that problem and even then the replacements has had rotting on them! Goldeneye being the main problem for me (I purchased FOUR copies till I found one that worked!). I just decided to get the blu ray collection. Thankfully I got one for really cheap second hand. I’ve just been unlucky with these volumes.

The ultimate editions also have remastered pictures and sound, I believe every Bond movie up until The Spy Who Loved Me had mono sound and on the ultimate editions they've been upgraded to DTS 5.1 surround. Purists may prefer the specials edition's for that reason as most have the original sound apart from Thunderball I believe which has 5.1 surround for some reason but I prefer the ultimate editions as I think the picture and sound are much better. I do prefer DVD covers on the special editions though.

Are the same special features on the Special Editions carried over to the Ultimate Editions? I'm actually backtracking a bit and trying to decide if I need to add the Special Editions. That spine bit is pretty cool. And likewise, do you know if the blu rays contain all the special features from each previous DVD edition? I'm actually tracking down the 97/98 releases right now cause they're the only ones to offer both full screen and widescreen versions. Yes, widescreen is certainly superior but I grew up with the full screen versions on TV and VHS releases so it's a bit of a nostalgia for me. Anyway, my 2 cents and I hope you can answer my questions. Thanks!

I seriously can't decide which I prefer. If you was to purchase one of the two collections as a new Bond fan, which would you go for?

(I'm planning on buying the Daniel Craig stuff separately)
