Wow, you can tell when he saw his haircut for the first time he was trying so hard to hold back a smile. We’re trying to stay cool because he was on camera. But you gave that guy so much confidence. People don’t realize what barbers do for people confidence.

I need to be a Barber, I been cutting my hair since the late 80's out of necessity. Mom's couldn't afford that weekly cut. But I follow these exact steps for the fade, seeing a professional use the same steps confirms I've been on the right track.

How in the hell...I wasn’t even looking for this video and it just popped up in my feed. I watched the whole thing and instantly subscribed. I’m sure you changed this mans life and restored his confidence. As men, our hair is attached to everything we feel emotionally.

I’m not sure why this popped up in my recommendations but I’m glad it did. Thank you for the biblical message. You are very talented as well. He looks very handsome in the end. Some of these comments are 👎🏽. You did a great job and tell your client I like his beard 🙏🏽

It's a good cut overall and I see the progression in a few of your videos. I just wanted to share my 2cents since you asked what people thought, so i'm just gonna share with you as someone with a bit of experience. Its nothing but love and just constructive ideas.... take what you want from it, or throw it out. I'm just sharing with you what I would've done my brother. Iron sharpens iron. Everyones hair is different too, and people that don't cut don't realize that. Especially wavy hair can grow with swirls/cowlicks in different directions and is a challenge for the best of 'em.

If you see it at 16:00 with the light and rotation, it's what i call "the truth" that we can't see unless we learn to look at the right angle sometimes 2, 3, 4 or however many times it takes. Better to see it and take the few extra minutes to go back in then to send them off uneven. Your clients will come back when they see the extra effort (Unless its a total chop job :X). But at that timestamp, 16:00 after being done and assessing, I wouldve blended a bit more. I used to move around the client a lot but I learned to move the client around me after several years. When you move around it's easy to make the cut uneven and not see it. Instead, I stay in the same spot and rotate the person while standing in the same spot and all i'm doing is standing up and bending down a bit to see the hair at the same angle of light the whole time. Then when done, I do a full rotation left then right to see what I missed. Good light and rotation from the same angle is key to seeing what we miss.

Some clients know exactly what they want even if you wanna cut more or make suggestions. It's always amazing to me when people come in and want certain things that are completely unrealistic to the way their hair grows or the type of hair they have or recession and will try and show a picture of someone with completely different hair. Or even a long list of directives that are off. We provide a service to give people what they want, but as barbers we want to make them look good. If something is that unrealstic i'll tell them but otherwise i try to be polite and say "it would look good if I do (x)", or whatever it is. Just remember It never hurts to make recommendations if it will do the person justice. In his case, I would have suggested to go up a bit higher, maybe about 1/2" based on different directions the hair is growing to get it to a point where the hair is growing more uniformly. And then just blend the bottom a bit more and play with that lever and the angles which you already do which is good. It's just to create that layer of a fade/gradient where you can see the transition. Especially for someone with hairline recession, the higher up you fade on the sides and the back, the more of an illusion it creates that the hair is fuller on top. Dont be scared to change the angle that you're cutting too; it's okay to rotate your hand and clippers 30 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise running over areas that are tricky in different directions.

I also dont know what this clients plan was.... maybe he was going to a party/event/date/whatever and just needed to be on point for the night, but otherwise the recession pattern was to deep for fiber + bigen/dye to run it flat across and add that much. And it's too little recession for a unit. But the moment those fibers are washed off he's done. I would had kept his recession pattern the same and just worked around the front of the hairline to make that half circle more thick and crispy. The key is to make it look real, even while keeping his recession pattern. Basically, you made the hairline like ____ when the natural shape is like a smile.... Rule of thumb being to always follow the natural lines and and never enhance more than 1/8th in front of where the line is. For clients who have that same airline plus missing patches on the top or even a balding patch on the crown, you can add the dye and fibers there but the lines looking as natural as possible make the cut perfect.

Like I said, nothing but love and just some basic touching up. Wish you all the best in your journey
