Freue mich sehr auf den 22.12.2023 in der Lanxess-Arena in Köln... wie jedes Jahr!! Ich verneige mich voller Demut und Dankbarkeit vor John Miles. Welch wundervolles Geschenk hat er uns mit seiner Musik und der "Night of the Proms" gemacht!! I love you... RIP 🌹🖤💖👏👏👏

Ik heb bijna alle jaren bij Night of the Proms Rotterdam geweest. Van 1992 tot 2017.

Inspired by the Proms with the Last Night of the Proms in London, where they only played a lot of light classical music,
two Belgian students, Jan Van Esbroeck and Jan Vereecke, got the idea to combine classical music with pop music.
In 1985 they organized the first Night of the proms with the house orchestra Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra and the house choir Fine Fleur Choir and with many many international (pop) artists, in the famous Antwerp sport palace in Belgium.
It was a success with more than 13, 500 visitors.
After 5 years, the organisation decided to give concerts in Holland and Germany, later in Austria, France, Denmark, Poland, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark.
They were also concerts in the USA, but i don't know if they give concerts in the USA these days.

Ich war nur im Konzert in Hamburg dabei, aber der BR hat in seinem Zusammenschnitt zumindest den in Hamburg am emotionalsten Moment leider nicht mitgenommen: als da ein leerer Stuhl auf der Bühne stand, nur mit einem Spot beleuchtet und vom Band (leider 😢) wurde 'my way' von John Miles gespielt. Man hatte noch einen Mitschnitt gefunden, den man aufarbeiten konnte und wo die Stimme gut zu hören ist. Der grösste Applaus des Abends mit Abstand. Aber wenigstens ein Abschied mit Würde. Ist nur zu hoffen, dass sein Sohn jetzt fester Bestandteil des Ensembles wird...
