What is the science behind disks? How broken does something have to be to be unsalvageable?

Charging $7.99 + shipping for a 30 second cycle? You can clearly see it didn´t even remove deeper scratches although you said disc looks like brand new. Check your local game stores who mostly charge $3 to $5 for a better service.
