I get this question all the time from young lawyers: "I'm only a year in to practice, but I absolutely hate it. Is it too early for me to know that I want to leave law?"

In this video, I'm sharing what I tell lawyers who are second-guessing their desire to leave the law because they're worried it's too early for them to know for sure that they want to leave.

I worked in a conflicts department of a BigLaw firm as an analyst, not even as an attorney, and this resonated. When I talked to loved ones about not liking my job they just didn’t get it. They saw good pay, a nice office, prestige, they just couldn’t understand why giving advice to just stick it out was just so wrong given the situation.

Oh yeah, I hated the profession and my decision to go into law for quite a while. Things got better after I went solo and slowly achieved some level of success there. I have a practice in NC now. If you'd be interested in being a guest on one of my future live stream shows, please let me know!

Wait, was Baker Botts that bad after only two and a half years? So bad that you didn’t try to lateral to another big law or super regional firm?
