Jesus saying that only the Father knew when He would come back parallels the historical Jewish wedding preparation. Only the father of the groom knew when he would tell his son "go get your bride". When I learned this i thought, wow, now I understand so much better. Until then I couldn't understand why Jesus would NOT know the time of His return.
