Some of the actors they chose to read the lines in the unabridged version are just insanely good at making you feel what the character feels. You can hear the agony of the events in his voice so clearly that you get transported into the story with them, even more so than when you read the book yourself. Brilliant work.

I’m so glad I saw the movie before I read the book
I can’t imagine what fans of the novel suffered whilst watching the movie.

A lot of people mention Mark Hamill and Alan Alda when it comes to the great voice performances in this audio version, and they are without a doubt great, but few recognize Jurgen Prochnow, this dude is a legend, we're talking about Der Alte, and the OG Duke Atreides. "I wasn't going to just goose-step my way into Hell like some good little Hitler Jugend. I would show them and everyone else what it meant to be a real Deutsche Soldat". The delivery gives me chills every time.
