What was the significance of the Battle of Stalingrad?

What Was The Tragic True Story Of Stalin's Daughter?

With Hitler underestimating the Soviet’s determination and military power, Operation Barbarossa ultimately failed in its aim of decisively defeating the Soviet Union. Despite this failure, German forces had taken vast swathes of land to the east, eyeing Stalingrad as a vital target. Attaching propaganda value to the city, named after Joseph Stalin, with the knowledge that the city provided access to the vital oilfields of the Caucasus, Hitler soon approved plans to invade. The battle which followed, known as the Battle of Stalingrad, was the deadliest battle in the Second World War, resulting in more Russian deaths than both the US and Britain sustained during the entire war. With the battle claiming an estimated two million lives, it represented a key turning point in the war, with the German High Command being forced to withdraw troops from other areas in order to replace those lost on the eastern front. The eventual Soviet victory energised the Red Army to continue fighting the fatigued and demoralised German forces, inspiring Soviet progress towards Berlin.

Definitely the most significant battle of WWII (together with The Battle Of Kursk). D-Day ain’t got shit on these two battles. I think D-Day is only made into a huge deal, because it was most that the USA did against Nazi Germany (the main antagonist) in WWII; and the USA, of course, feels the need to narcissistically underline their contributions, and for some reason, the other Western countries (or their governments, at least) seem to feel the need to kiss America’s ass, and subscribe to these claims. Слава Россие! Слава Советскому Союзу! 🇷🇺

The craziest part is the USSR lost like 200k more lives than the Germans in the battle of Stalingrad

Stalingrad endured more bombs than droped on London. The battle was lost by logistics. There was a two hundred mile clogged railway line and all their freight had to be off loaded and driven over a damaged rail bridge that was awaiting beams etc. That were stranded where they couldn't be carried forward.

Hitler was remarkably intelligent and stupid. He revolutionised the use of tanks with infantry as well as some improvements in aviation tactics but every time he attempted to attack Russia he did it in the winter and he started a war on two fronts 😂 he made all the same mistakes as napoleon

The city didn't "provide access to the oil fields", according to the original war plan the German troops were supposed to ignore the city and head straight south into Georgia and seize control of the oil fields there near Baku, but Hitler in his stupidity and ego decided to direct the German troops instead to take the city of Stalingrad, for the sole reason of it carrying the name of Stalin, which he hated the most, and there they got stuck in futile battle cause the Russians have had an endless supply of manpower to keep the fight on until winter sets in and cut the long supply lines of the Germans, therefore trapping them deep inside Russian territory without any chance of getting reinforcements through the heavy snow and mud that by that time covered all the land surrounding them, leading them eventually to surrender and total defeat of the their war effort on the east front, which was unwarranted to begin with because they actually had a treaty signed with the Russians before the war, the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, to keep them from fighting each other, so when Hitler decided not to honor that pact and attack Russia, he pretty much lost the war for Germany, cause it could have never fought all of Europe AND Russia and win. An Idiot megalomaniac who killed a whole generation of Europeans and Russians and destroyed Germany itself, all for nothing.
