I have a 2008 Sterling Bullet 4500 with a six speed manual shift. Completely stock with a utility bed and a small crane. I use truck for welding and hauling my Bobcat S770 skid loader. Love the truck. The more weight added to the truck the better it rides and more power it seems to have.

On our fifth wheel, we swapped out the 7K Dexter axles w/electric drums with 8K Dexter axles w/electric over hydraulic discs. WHAT A DIFFERENCE THIS MAKES. Stopping power is awesome. Our 5er weighs about 18, 500lbs and stopping feels the same either solo or towing. Our 15 RAM 3500 Laramie Longhorn with AISIN AS69RC is bone stock and pulls like a dream. I’ve been looking at the Loadleash for about 2 years now, and I’m convinced this is an upgrade we need to invest in before we get a heavier 5er. The stock EB is adequate for our weight, but we are at the limits on some 6-7% grades.

Great setup man. Ur so right about chasing the temps! My deleted 13’ 5500 really likes to creep up there. I start paying real close attention above 215-220. Have caught it over 230 a few times. Seems like it ran around the same temps before the delete tho too but it’s been several years

And on your trailer I don’t run that kind but compared to the the murry 45ton and cozad gen x trailers (disk brake) both lowboys I use for work. Drums last way longer on the trailers less pad replacement and drum. On the gen x they stop way better for sure but I’ve had two rotors explode on me with in 1 year I know you’re not towing as much weight as I do. I’m a purple permit constantly but I would rather have good brakes rather then really good brakes that crack explode and go though pads like a mad man.
Plus you should look into iron horse trailers if you want an upgrade I just bought one last week (on order) they use dexter axles and the trailers are amazing. 26 foot lowboy drive over fender gooseneck

I like the set up, but I can’t think of any Big Lebowski quotes to use. I don’t know much about the axles, but I’m pretty good with tires to run on it. (I really think Roadmaster is the best bang for the buck, to use the parlance of our time, (got my Lebowski quote!!))Still loving my tan V-Belt & Son hat. The "quiet" versions of the dual disks offered by both Southbend and Valair are actually very very quiet, no floater plate rattle.

I miss my 08 G56, and now the G56 is getting harder to find on the used market trying to balance price vs mileage. I found a good deal on an 18 but it’s a SRW so I’d have to either go with 19.5” wheels or convert to DRW which puts it in the same price range as an aisin equipped truck smh Adulting is hard....
