Why William Afton ISN'T Ourple in Midnight Motorist - FNAF Theory

William Afton has been known as Five Nights at Freddy's Purple Guy for almost a decade, which makes it seem strange that he would seemingly be depicted as yellow in the Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator Midnight Motorist minigame, at least if the Midnight Motor car in Five Laps at Freddy's is any indication. However, I think there is a good reason why William would be yellow when we see Mustard Man in the game, and it has to do with his son, Michael Afton, and the Miketrap theory, as well as his depiction as the Yellow Rabbit in the FNAF movie.

They way I kinda interpreted it was that yellow was used because he wasn’t in his purple guy killer mode in the midnight motorist. He was just William Afton, possible drunk driver and bad father. He wasn’t in murderous mad scientist restaurant owner mode, like he is in other instances that we see him outside of the Spring Bonnie suit. Of course, even with that I can’t blame people for being skeptical that purple guy is suddenly mustard man

Not only that, but Midnight Motorist is a pretty dark minigame. I don’t just mean in terms of subject matter, but also literally. The colours are mostly dark greys and blacks. So having a dark purple sprite on top of that would probably be hard to see, hence why he’s a bright yellow.

Not to mention in Pizza Similator specifically he is exclusivly yellow, as he only appears in his springlock suits

The reason he is yellow is because to achieve the purple look, he jumps into a pool of purple paint, that badge isn't a badge, he just had a slice of bread on his chest when he jumped in

My favorite theory comes from RyeToast, where when he reveals himself to the world as a bright yellow, all sunshine and happiness comes from him, but really, it's just a cover up for his evil, dark, twisted purple self

It’s also very cool how Purple and Yellow are opposites color wise, which ties into how when William is in the suit he’s a happy showman, but when he removes it he’s his horrible self

Plus William also had a yellow badge in his first appearance so…you can argue he is also associated with yellow in that regard

I’d also like to bring up that yellow and purple are complementary colors so this also makes sense from a color theory standpoint

I agree! And it would also make sense because if he was purple, it would blend into the backround

And another thing to add! Since Micheal took over the purple color in the series by being scooped, they used the color that is the exact opposite to purple for Will. Also showing how they're opposites!

Also, compare the two sprites. The Stocky Zoomed out Yellow Guy sprite looks almost like the Pink Guy sprite, while the zoomed in lanky looking Orange Guy sprite looks like the classic phone handed Purple Guy sprite. (plus the colors match, lighter color, darker version of that color)

To be fair at this point in time he is only depicted as purple when wearing the security outfit so giving him another color when not wearing it AND purple mike makes sense

I agree with your point. It’s better for William to be yellow in Midnight Motorist, so that it’s harder for us to know who that individual is.

In an alternate timeline,

Scott chose to make him purple and till this day people are still arguing whether or not this is Michael later that night of Sister Location or William later that night after Charlie's murder

Believe me this is the better timeline
