Whether you have a T5, VW T5.1, T6, T6.1 or even an older T2, T2.5, T4, the VW Vanlife scene is amazing, with so much help and assistance available for whatever project you wish to attempt. Panel van, Kombi, Converted Camper or VW California Beach or Ocean, enjoy the freedom van life brings.

The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.

I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which is removable, TV's on headrests.

Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Vanlife is amazing, get out and explore, it's a great adventure.
There are many great camper adventures to come

Thanks must go to the following:
Transporter HQ for my tailgate struts

Amazon Audible is great for listening to books on longer journeys, I have used it for years.

The new VW Transporter and new VW California Ocean are being released

New vans are too expensive and greed will kill the industry. Majority of people are not willing to pay inflated prices. Also there is a flood of 2nd hand vehicles availability..Add to this the cost of living as well as inflated campsite costs….you are right

I’ve taken the rear seats out of my Vito sport, bought double folding camp bed, tri fold mattress sturdy plastic boxes etc. I swap between work and leisure. I was planning to buy a van to convert but not now.

I heard a comment the other day ‘who would buy a Chinese camper van’. I guess the same people who are buying the UKs fastest selling car brand - MG - i.e pensioners. Maybe pensioners are not buying overpriced VWs but don’t rule out that they won’t buy something they perceive as better value.

New caravans and motorhomes are grossly overpriced. This situation was inevitable.

I have a T5.1 highline factory kombi, with a pop top and a slidepod system. Seats 5 & sleeps 5 ( @ a push), I tried selling it to fund a T6.1. Not a chance 😢

I've been looking at the JDM conversions ( wellhouse ) as a way of having a general daily with the option of going away for a few days whenever. Taking account of the increased fuel costs as most are thirsty petrols they are sometimes 20K cheaper than the alternatives. Holding off in case the market dips even further and more economic diesels are then cost effective over the longer term.

This was a great informative video 👍👍 I recently visited my local Vw van dealer and there stock levels are now High ! hence more deals to move stock on ! Personally I think new van prices are ridiculously high, this I turn makes residual values high ! This isn’t sustainable and at last, I hope the market is finding its level. Great work 👍👍

I can't afford a van myself at the moment, my plan is to invest in a few years when i retire. I'll also have more time to get the most out of the van then aswell. I wonder what the market will look like then?

In 5 to 10 years EV vans with solid state batteries and huge taxes on ICE vans will decimate prices of existing vans.

My local motorhome dealer is extremely concerned. They say business has been down hugely from previous years & due to it, have laid some staff off.

I have owned my VW Camper King for almost 8 years and had a huge amount of use from it both camping and as a daily driver. If prices had remained sensible I would have traded it in for a newer model. However there is no way I can afford to spend another £30-40k upgrading it for something which is similar and does the same job. As such I will stick with this one for life and look after it. They can probably last 40 years I will just spend the money on maintenance

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next year

Yes, same pattern in the 70s in the US
Overproduce/crash. But with the housing/hotel/air b n b Monopoly, vans will be appealing.

Very useful information.
I think anyone living in the EU needs to factor in the cost of fuel plus the restrictions that could be placed on ICE vehicles going forward.

I literally bought a transit, I’m gunna insulate the rear and stick in a 3/4 bed that I won’t even bolt down, il lash it down, already slept a fair few nights in it, it works & it’s alright to be fair.

Il sell it in 4 years and buy an older motor home as I think the same thing that happened in the mountain bike world is going to hit campers.

I been looking to buy a motorhome but the prices are very high, also this 3.550 weight restriction on a car license restriction means I need to stick to 6mtrs length. Coupled with the restrictions that local councils are preventing Motorhome’s parking in car parks, on verges in fact it’s becoming a big problem. Too many Motorhome’s and few places to go. It’s cheaper to use my money and go on holidays abroad. I think the motorhome and camper van industry will collapse. 😢

Same in Europe then as here?
But seems independent van builders/converters are very busy
