Thankyou, road user charges are on the way but need to be implemented in a fair and sustainable manner and should certinly follow the same principle across states.

The best approach is probably to make all or most significant roads toll roads using a dongle similar to that used on toll roads.

The toll should be federally supervised to ensure it is competitive and fosters economic transport, but should go to the authority, agencies or owner responsible for the road being travelled. It should iclude a factor related to capiral cost and maintainence and development of that road. It should take account of vehicle weight, footprint and road congestion to favour lighter, smaller vehicles. Provision would also be needed for payment in reltion to rental vehicles.

The road user charge would displace existing tolls and should be pitched below fuel tax for most users so ICE vehicle owners could also transition and get a fuel tax rebate if they pay road user charges.

These days the tech to do all this should not be hard to implement but it needs national coordination.

Hi guys, how does this ev road user tax work? I think knowone knows about it or how to process it and yet i believe some owners have had their cars deregistered through lack of compliance.
This looks like another big balls up. IMO
