Okay, this is giving me feelings. Right before my mother died of Alzheimer's, she was having very weird, very vivid, very elaborate dreams. One of them involved a dinner to honor veterans where the ladies sponsoring the event made boutonnières out of thin sliced deli ham and ruffle edged leaf lettuce to resemble 3 roses in a doily cone. She assured me they looked very nice. 😂 I questioned her and she was able to give me all kinds of details and it was one among a dozen of my favorite of her dreams because it seemed so absolutely...out there. And now I'm freaked out all over again! 😮

They do make a very pretty appetizer on a plate. I think the ham would be pretty too - more delicate! And I'd love a balsamic drizzle. (Yes, balsamic vinegar has carbs, but I wouldn't think you'd get much over a teaspoon on two of these, so definitely doable! Even a thinner down dijonnaise drizzle would be tasty.

Does this include a gift certificate for the stains that he's going to get on his clothes when you pin it on his lapel? 😂
