Sorrowful Mysteries - Tuesday & Friday
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father
Son and Holy Spirit
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell;
On the third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
Amen.
Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary x3
Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
1st Mystery - The Agony in the Garden
The First Sorrowful Mystery, the Agony in the Garden. In this mystery, we contemplate how Jesus prepares for his ultimate suffering to come on the Cross. In his humanity, he is tempted by the Devil and betrayed by his own friends, but he does not let this steer him away from saving all of humanity. Instead he goes to his Father and asks, 'My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will".

Hail Mary x10
Glory Be
Fatima Prayer
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell;
lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those who have most need of your mercy.
2nd Mystery - The Scourging at the Pillar
The Second Sorrowful Mystery, the Scourging at the Pillar. Influenced by the crowds, Pilate has his soldiers scourge Jesus. Jesus is mocked and tortured in front of everyone. We contemplate the humiliation, sorrow, and pain Jesus feels as he is struck over and over.
Our Father
Hail Mary x10
Glory Be
Fatima Prayer
3rd Mystery - The Crowning of Thorns
The Third Sorrowful Mystery, the Crowning of Thorns. The soldiers place a crown of thorns on Jesus’ head and mockingly say, 'Hail, King of the Jews!". Let us reflect and contemplate all the times we have mocked Jesus by ignoring Him or going against His will. We accompany Jesus as his suffering only increases.
Our Father
Hail Mary x10
Glory Be
Fatima Prayer
4th Mystery - The Carrying of the Cross
The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery, the Carrying of the Cross. The soldiers lead Jesus to Golgotha while scourging him, spitting in his face and taunting him all while he carries a large heavy cross. Jesus accepts the extreme emotional and physical pain because it is His Father’s will. He accepts His imminent death so that He can redeem all of mankind.
5th Mystery - The Crucifixion
The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery, The Crucifixion. Jesus is crucified to the cross with criminals on each of his sides. He says, 'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do' … Jesus breathes his last breath giving himself entirely to the Father for the sake of all of mankind...for me and for you.
Our Father
Hail Mary x10
Glory Be
Fatima Prayer
Hail Holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb,
Jesus, O merciful,
O loving,
O sweet Virgin Mary!
Amen.
Closing Prayer
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: O God, whose Only Begotten Son,
by his life, Death, and Resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life,
grant, we beseech thee,
that while meditating on these mysteries
of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain
and obtain what they promise,
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
