“the lecture slides spread out the knowledge”… I am finally vindicated in my disdain for slides, I could cry 😭😭

Watching several med student study videos, I've reached two conclusions. 1) No one reads the text books. 2) You're going to forget 80% of the smaller details you sucked up for the exam, but keep the big picture clear; that way, details that are encountered again and again have a place to go.

Everything said:

1. Make flashcards DURING your class and lectures.

2. Make rough notes DURING the class, anotate lecture slides, write extra info on the side of the topic in the slides.

3. WRITE WRITE WRITE. It’ll help you remember things better.

4. Highlighting isn’t doing anything. It’s just making you feel like you studied.

5. Create mindmaps after your lectures.

6. Make digital chart notes similar to Cornell note taking method (digital if you want to print out your notes).

7. Use Notion’s toggle features to imitate flashcards.

Oh, forgot another one I heard about from Ali Abdaal's channel: His friend uses Google Docs to create documents that are filled with nothing but questions. No need to write extra notes, since all the information is already everywhere. Just write down the questions, and practice from that.

I LOVED that idea. I can't wait to try it!

Thank you for the vid it was very helpful! i'm a 1st year Computer Science student and I've been trying things out in the 1st semester, I also strongly prefer Quizlet since it's just way prettier and also more functions and just quicker/easier to use in general. Also, I feel you for oral exams, here in Italy oral exams are so common we have them for almost every class in Uni, for some time I thought we only had them here but I'm glad to see it's not the case😅. My 2nd semester is gonna start next week so I'm checking out some new ways to take notes to prepare, I heard Obsidian is one of the best note taking systems so I'm definetely gonna try it out. I’m in DPT school. Flashcards help me a lot, but I can’t type fast enough to make them during lecture time. Also don’t have time to make hundreds of it for each class. My current best method is using white board and markers to recall and write down what I’ve studied. What do you think about this method?

In paramedic school right now. I bought an iPad Pro just for note taking. Plan is to “mind map” my notes on the good notes app. We’ll see

I'm in my second quarter of the year and I JUST realized that it really can be useless to take notes during lectures lol. It's much more better to absorb the information and also create your own study materials (like the flashcards that you mentioned). Thanks for the tips. :D

I would just like to give a little feedback tho no one asked :)
This video would be so much better if it shows b-rolls more often, that way it grasps the attention of the viewers from start to finish

That's all. I don't intend to spread hate :)))

k but how do u know what helps for u? especially when trying to study for end of year exams when you've just done random lots of studying techniques- is it what just feels easiest? feels right / the best? seems to get better results when recalling info in tests etc?
also do u mind on doing a vid on like how to best prep for exams + how to feel relaxed and at ease when undertaking an exam etc?
