Thrift finds for August 2022

Oh My! Your little granddaughter has grown so much! And her little earrings are adorable! That Shirley is going to have a playmate before you know it. ;-) Great finds. I had a WONDERFUL Aug. and start to Sept. Two Dolls Shows and the BlytheCon. ;-)

I love the little Madame Alexanders. 8 in. I have a few then I have the little McDonalds Happy Meal ones. Trying to find room to step them up as I put them in a little dollhouse I have from childhood.

Good idea with the Shirley Temple doll! Love the little Madame Alexander dolls. I recently found a Little Kiddle doll in perfect condition and separately, a Little Kiddle car. I look for toys for my grandchildren at a local thrift store, but every so often I find a vintage doll for a dollar or two.

Love the idea of Shirley Temple for your grandbaby👍! I would love to find my old Shirley doll from when I was 3 but my mom doesn't remember what happened to her 🤔 though she may still be in one of her boxes somewhere 😆

Nice finds. Your granddaughter will have so much fun with Shirley (hard to believe she's turning 1!). I had a good August due to the toy show (I did a video). We don't have a Savers here. But I sure wish we did!

Love the little Wendy's. I have Daffy down dilly too. So precious! Haven't had super great luck with dolls in August. I did find a few American Girl to restore from thrift stores and consignment sales. If it counts, I bought a few dolls online at discounted prices. I got a Madame Alexander sonia henie and 21 inch madelaine du bain doll. So gorgeous. I also got a Louis amber sue doll. I'd really been wanting to find one for an affordable price and found all three of these for fantastic deals.

I am so glad to hear you talk briefly about Ginny dolls. I have 2, one I got about 15+ years ago at a rummage sale, she was in good shape with a lot of thick red hair, but she was very loose in her joints. I got her for $1. After I got her home I realized she was made with rubber bands. She was my first Ginny and first doll I've ever had with rubber bands. A dear friend replaced her with new bands about 10 years ago, but she died I have to have the bands replaced again( I tried and tried but couldn't do it). I'm from Michigan and don't know anyone here that deals with doll restringing. Any suggestions where I could get help with this? Suggestions of where to buy doll clothes for her or is there another doll that the clothes would fit a Ginny doll also? Poor doll has only the dress I found her in! Thanks for any input you can give me!

I think I already told you that I have to wendy kins and an old cisette and a modern one. The rubber bands are getting weak, but I'm procrastinating in replacing their strings cause of a little difficulty and stress.
