This sounds like a dumb take or like looking for absurd reasons for something rather easy to explain:

1) players don‘t play often with each other like they do in clubs

2) defensive players don‘t need to play that often together to create synergy and defensive strategy is quite the same/standardized. It is more tactical and the tactics are universal. They don‘t need to be „creative“ but solid. Because defence is standardized, in the last decades most country became good/better at defensive part of the game.

3) which in turn makes it easier to be good in defence (most teams in euro were solid, especially relative to the offence) and more difficult to be good together in offence, since offensive players need to play out each attackers strong suit to overcome defence and then score. That in turn needs practice and getting to know each others playstyle to create the synergy needed, while the defence doesn‘t need that much effort.

-> so many draws and less goals from working together and more from individual actions or long range shots. (Also a reason why individual players rise to stardom from these tournaments)


But sure we can attest that to the weather, i guess
