Hello and welcome, my name is Andrew Mallett and, yes, I am the urban penguin. I am taking this moment to introduce to you my new Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Security course, part of the RHCSA curriculum. This course will focus on file system security with both the mode and ACL of files before moving onto Network security and master Firewalld and finishes up covering SELinux in detail. This is a 2 day course in Hatton Garden London from the 21st to 22nd October 2019, if you can be in London for these dates you really should not miss out on this opportunity. For certain we will cover more than you would on most certification courses and cover what you really need to know. The basic permissions of the file system are simple but will also look at using -X so we can add execute to directories only as well as understanding special permissions such as the SGUD bit to control group ownership of files. Using POSIX ACLs demonstrate how we can ensure the Apache group always has access to Web Content. Moving on to Firewalld we show how to secure your system and show you how to keep your system running even after you have changed the firewall, the little known option --runtime-to-permanent is a friend but it is little known of in administrative circles. The course climaxes with a thorough look at SELinux, from User restrictions, through to Booleans before writing and compiling out own policy module. You will leave this course with a great understanding of file permissions, firewalls and SELinux and be in a very strong position to secure your Enterprise systems
