1-1+1-1+1-1.... = 1/2 was also asked to prove in my interview and I was also asked to extend the sum mentioned in the Shorts to sum of even powers and odd powers separately. As I interviewed for PhD position in Number Theory this turned out to be very useful piece of information

Yes, the sum of all positive numbers up to infinity is equal to -1/12!

No. Dont we need negative numbers to get a sum to be negative? This looks like a set of whole numbers which is closed under addition. So all such sums will give a whole number at the end. Am I wrong?
