As entrepreneurs, we sometimes tolerate things that we would never put up with if we had a “real” boss – like inconsistent income.

If you’re struggling to figure out how to pay yourself as a business owner, I am going to walk you through how to create a pay structure that will give you a regular salary, no matter your business.

Whether you’ve wondered, “how do I pay myself in business?” or “Should I put myself on a payroll?” this is everything you need to know to create a salary for small business owners. Gone are the days of financial insecurity and inconsistent paychecks.

Paying yourself as a business owner is one of many intersections where entrepreneurship and personal finance meet – and one of the most important for creating peace of mind, developing financial stability, and making good money decisions.

I appreciate the explanation on creating personal salary system.

I still do not fully understand how it would work for the case when the business doesn't make enough money to pay the desired salary (to cover basic needs) - where do you get the money to actually pay yourself that salary?

Another question is how do I show to IRS that I'm reinvesting or using the income to reinvest it in the business growth? It still looks like an income that I end up paying taxes on. Would love to know how to it's actually done properly.

Thank you

Where do you suggest keeping your Salary Buffer? A separate Business Savings account?
