If you can get a 3ds xl with ips for the same price you might as well🤷🏾♂️my advice is check local shops and ebay then compare prices and quality.some poeple try to up the price even more for ips screens so i say check shops FIRST because most times they dont know about that screen differences

Oh cool, I've always heard about this but I didn't care to check my screens. Turns out my top screen of my New 3DS is IPS :D, nice. For those sad that you have both TN screens, I get that you might want IPS for the sake of collecting and all that but, if not, the TN looks just as good, is not that big of a difference. I play more often on my 2DS (which has two TN screens) and I honestly couldn't care less when I'm playing

I'm interested in buying an N3DS xl, but I don't know how expensive they are currently in 2023. I'm not really desperate to have one but it would be nice to get an idea of the prices. I recently homebrewed my O3ds and I'm in love with this thing, lol, so I want a N3ds for my bro.

I think mine has IPS. It was sold to me as having IPS Top, but I didn't even know what it meant. Just at a glance it appears to be, but my battery is still red, so can't do that test yet.
It's a Hyrule edition (new 3DS).

If you cant tell by just looking at the screen you probably don’t need a IPS screen anyways

I can tell my New 3DS XL has Top ISP and Bottom TN. The starting serial is QW1096, though didn't appear in the video. I will need to replace the top ISP as it has a lot of dead pixels (I heard it is a common issue for those types). Wonder if I should get the bottom to be ISP, as the bottom failed the tilt test (Darker when tilted).
