The secret behind becoming an elite coder ⬇️

Many think that there some big secret to becoming an elite coder,

They think maybe it’s the course they took or the coding bootcamp,

Or maybe it’s the college, or the bachelors degree.

“Maybe if I’m not a computer science major I have no chance at becoming an elite coder.”

While that’s far from the truth.

The real reason these guys and girls become elite,

Isn’t the knowledge that they have.

Rather it’s the applied knowledge that separates them from the crowd.

Because knowledge is power, but applied knowledge = results.

So the moral of this is get in there and start building.

That’s all from me,

Jameel.

PS: I created a roadmap to becoming a Full Stack Developer where I walk you Week-by-Week for 12 weeks on which skills you need to monetize your code.

Real coding (no influencers):

“This is too hard”
“This is too hard”
“This is too hard”
“Oh i did it”
> 789 errors

At some point in your coding journey, the mentality just shifts. The question changes from "can i do this?" To "how long will it take me to do this?" You're certain you can do everything, some things may take a longer time though

Me be like:
Why doesn't my code works?

Why does my code work?

Your coding will drastically change when you will stop listening to influencers about the way you should write code :)

Facts. It’s really hard but it’s not too hard. We just need more practice and a lot more patience.

Mindset, I don't give-up when one game is hard.
Why would I give up when it's about something that can give me a lot of money in the future?
Strive to find joy in the challenge, just like you do while gaming.

nah, it's
"I can do this, easy"
*error*
"Just a little bug, easy fix"
*3 hours later*

"I can't do this"

I’m self taught. Quadrupled how much I can make in a few years. I remember learning, just gotta push through if you want it, it’s well worth it.

I'm currently in my learning phase. I know i can do this, but I'm not consistent. One day i set a target that I'll do this much this week, next day i perform much less and give up

I need to set this mindset. Can seem so intimidating, especially when my other classmates picked it up pretty fast. After I graduated from university, I was burnt out from the coursework and really felt I could never pick up coding again. A friend of mine wants to learn coding so I’m going to teach her. Her eagerness to learn makes me want to take a crack at it again

Tbh I’m going through a rough patch in my career right now as a SWE. I’m starting to doubt myself every step of the way and am experiencing some very acute imposter syndrome. This helped me feel just a bit better, so thanks!

My coding actually changed when I started coding 💀

When you start coding sometimes random mistakes make you leave that project but when you solve too many problems it feels like you can do everything by coding ❤

Whenever am learning to code it's just too hard until I take a moment to motivate my self and say tthat I can do it

Saying "can i do this?"
It works
Builds confidence

After years and several languages I began to realize that I have all the tools and strategies to solve almost any issue I run into. Part of it is learning and experiencing different issues over and over again and part of it is a gradual mindset shift.

Nah it changes when you build personal projects you find fun, interesting and engaging. Software feels difficult when its not fun.

As a smart man (random funny DnD youtuber) once said, "You do not know *why* your code works, you simply know it does."

You have a better chance with a rubber ducky than a mindset.
