14.Thomas Hobbes

Hobbes is best known for his 1651 book Leviathan, in which he made the argument that in the state of nature (i.e. without a state) life would be "nasty brutish and short". The state is formed when society gives up its liberty for security in order for self-preservation. This social contract theory is the basis of liberal political theory and that is why Hobbes is considered one of the founders of modern political philosophy.

According to Thomas Hobbes State came into existence on the basis of Social Contract from a natural society where man's life was nasty, short and brutish. The key concern by which the citizen reached into an agreement was self preservation. Due to self preservation the contact made. A full pledge set of rights was given to Leviathan, the state or sovereign, to protect the right of citizens and enforce the common law of contract. The power of Leviatan can not be questioned until he protect the citizen, but as soon as he fails to secure and preserve the rights of individual, the individual's action is justified to flee from contract or find another way for himself 🙄

Then you wonder about state and its law and order . When in Pakistan a politician like Pervez Elahi whose elderly has no light in prison. In USA prison is totally different where you get cable and even college education in prison so you could change your life . Why so different worlds ? Yes I visit Pakistan regularly but I don’t like the direction of Pakistan. I love Pakistan. In USA they let elderly go free if they are sick like Parvez Elahi . I sm no politician or love politics.
