WHAT IS WRONG WITH LIVERPOOL?

Jurgen Klopp looked baffled as he watched his Liverpool team lose at home for the first time in 34 games. Liverpool face a huge battle to keep their Europa League final hopes in Dublin alive after suffering a shock home defeat to Atalanta in the quarter-final first leg at Anfield. Former West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca scored in each half and even throwing on Salah, Szoboszlai and Diaz wasn't enough for Liverpool. All to do in Bergamo.

Atalanta were brilliant, but everyone will jump to Liverpool being bad. Big up Atalanta!

Comeback you say. Not with this players. The most important part of a comeback is you don’t miss your chances. And this team has shown us they are incapable.

As an Arsenal fan, I think Liverpool’s struggles is not just being wasteful In front of the goal. It’s has to do with lack of game management. They’ve one style of play which is to attack relentlessly. This exposes their midfield and backline for easy picking for the few teams that can stand against Liverpool’s barrage of attacks.

Liverpool never control a game even when they dominate.

When you play a European quarter final and leave most of your best players on the bench 👌

Atalanta were far better than Liverpool. Got dominated physically in midfield and their defence leaked chances as usual. This is nothing to do with finishing because if Atalanta had better finishing they would have scored 5 or 6.

This Liverpool team really remind me of Arsenal last season. At the end they got too emotional and started letting in way too many goals

i’ve been the biggest darwin nunez supporter throughout but it’s getting harder and harder to defend him

Things have to go wrong before they can be fixed! I never thought we’d ever pick up any trophy this year without a major struggle a Hollywood style twist. Our first trophy came this way and I believe the next two will be the exact same! We are Liverpool and this is what we do! YNWA

Liverpools opponents have underperformed their xG for the whole season. It was simply not sustainable to smack bangers in the top corner from 25+ yards out while drawing 1-1 to sheff utd in the 74th minute, sneak 99th minute 0-1 wins vs forest, win while trailing 2-3 v Fulham at home in the 80th minute etc. To much chaos

I’ve been saying it since October everyone was laughing at me Liverpool are nowhere near as good as city or arsenal. They’re like United they’re sloppy score a lot of last minute goals but they have Klopp and he gets them through most games but since new years you can probably count on one hand the amount of games Liverpool have won convincingly it’s just like Ferguson dragging a bang average United side to a title. Once Klopp leaves this team will be in a fight just to finish top 4 mark my words vvd and Salah are on the back end of their primes Robbo is not at his best Darwin is Nicholas Jackson from Uruguay. Trent can’t defend. Klopp is the very manager in the world and this team has been punching above its weight until a few weeks ago and now the cracks are starting to show simple as.

I thought that Nunez would have got it by now, don’t think he ever will. Truly an awful finisher, for 100m… wow

klopp's Tactics this season has cost us,

playing both fullbacks inverted make us very narrow

Díaz constantly moving into the central striker position forcing Núñez out wide

Mo is no longer a winger as best just as free role striker but Klopp making them play as a traditional winger with chalk on his boots make us very slow

make Szoboszlai ball winner rather than a player who can ghost into the opposition box,

then the transfers-

Robertson time as the number one left back is over, good squad player why we did not buy a new left back in the summer or in the winter

have only Díaz & Mo as only wide players as Jota is best as striker, Elliott is not a wide player, Gakpo is not good enough at anything

not buy more physical athlete as a defensive midfielder with pace

combined has really hurt us trying to win more trophies

Honestly. If a club wants Diaz for good money they should sell him, put Nunez on the left, he can supply way more assists, jota through the middle , and then get another striker to come off the bench . Then gakpo can actually play if preferred position when he’s needed

You have to remember they weren’t that great last year, I was surprised how quickly and dramatically they’d improved in just half a season. Injuries, the conflicting effect of Klopp’s early resignation announcement, a flat spell in front of goal, laboured 2-1 wins etc…but it can still change. Over Christmas Arsenal looked like an over-flogged dead horse, now I’m thinking their away form has been so good they can easily beat Bayern out there. Liverpool can still come good, but there are issues. Nunez is an issue all of his own!

As a Liverpool fan ...I'm sorry we are poor and gifted Arsenal or Man City the league. Man Utd, Atalanta, now Crystal Palace and Nunez, has to go. Did he score in these games ? Sorry but ain't no Ian Rush, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler, Ian St John, Michael Owen, Roberto Firmino, Steven Gerrard he ain't a forward. Cannot wait for new manager as well. It's that embarrassing, and half of them shouldn't be wearing a red shirt today. The only ones trying at Liverpool are Van Dijk, Robertson, Trent, and Jota.

To be honest, all you have to do is nick the ball off us and hoof it to the wings. You're gonna get a one -on-one chance if you have pacy wingers and a forward who keeps direct in the middle. The way we played Atalanta reminded me of the 7-2 hammering at Aston Villa, we just had no defence, they were a million miles away. We can and have played better than this, but this was a really bad night for Liverpool. Atlanta did their homework, completely outplayed us and could have scored more.
Anfield was an absolute graveyard before and during the game, I know that the atmosphere should not make a match but it does help. The vibe in the ground was the worst I've ever experienced in 44 years of supporting my club - I know the protest situation and all that - but it was so flat... and that was before Atalanta even scored. It was just a shocking performance from players. manager and fans.

There's two ways I can look at this. 1, this was a kick up the ass we needed and we regroup, stop being complacent and cocky and get our shit together. We can go on an epic run and finish the season with a flourish or 2, we just implode and dramatically drop points, morale, and end up fighting for fourth place.

too many rotated players coming back from injury who are just miles out of form (szobo, cujo, salah and especially tsimikas who shouldn't be near a football pitch atm...i get why Klopp did it and on face value it seemed like a decent game to get some minutes back into their legs but evidently it was a bad idea) and a recent weird inability to score when it _really_ matters....i mean, arguably they all matter but as the season has wore on they've got more and more ineffective infront of goal

We've let United off the hook twice, Arsenal and City got away with a draw at Anfield...those points missed are gonna bite us in the arse.

gutted for Gakpo too, his first solid performance in a while and the rest of the team turns in a 3/10 game

What is wrong with Liverpool?the answer is missing chances Nunez is notorious for doing that its like hes getting paid for hitting the bar or post than scoring the other problem for Liverpool which i think its even worse is poor defense as a team not individually their defensive unit as a team is poor same with city
