Did you know that in Chinese, you can create a wealth of essential phrases using just two words? It's true! Say hello to 'Hǎo' and 'Nán.'

'Hǎo' means 'good to,' while 'Nán' means 'hard to.' These two versatile words can be combined with countless others to express various everyday concepts.

'Chī' means 'to eat.' Combine it with 'Hǎo,' and you've got 'Hǎochī,' meaning 'good to eat' or 'delicious.' On the flip side, 'Nánchī' means 'hard to eat' or 'disgusting.'

'Hǎokàn' means 'good to look at' or 'beautiful,' while 'Nánkàn' expresses the opposite, 'difficult to look at' or 'ugly.'

'Hǎotīng' signifies 'good to listen to' or 'pleasant to hear,' whereas 'Nántīng' conveys 'difficult to listen to' or 'unpleasant to hear.'

Want to say something is 'good to play' or 'fun'? Use 'Hǎowán.'

'Hǎoyùn' involves your 'luck,' so 'Hǎoyùn' translates to 'good luck.' When you want to wish someone well, simply say, "Zhù nǐ hǎoyùn."

So, to all of you embarking on the journey of learning Mandarin, 'Zhù nǐ hǎoyùn'! 🌟 Start speaking Mandarin with confidence today. 🎉

I love how methodical and organized this is as a language. Thank you so much for your content. I'm watching peppa pig because of you and already able to say basic phrases. It helps to recognize phrases in the middle of watching

I think as an English person I would avoid any of the Nan1 combinations .
I would prefer to say something like .
"I prefer listening to other kinds of music ."
Or something along those lines to any of the sentences .
I thought that Chinese was a subtle language of implications .
I like the phrase from the Tao Te Ching .
"I dare not play the host, I'd rather play the guest ."

at the end of high school, i still couldn't tell what my major gonna be 😅 i was thinking about going for an english one, though it's one of the most popular majors in my country. of course, i had a plan b aka getting a chinese major, but i was really scared of the language... my mom suggested chinese because she saw me chatting in chinese with chinese people on the game. i was using google translate to understand what do they, also used it to answer them in simplified mandarin 😭 we couldn't understand each other well tho it was quite funny. my mom really thought that i was learning chinese behind her back. alas i wasnt thus all i knew about chinese that it has tones... and its characters are difficult. i got into the university i dreamt about as a chinese major 🥰 i love typing in chinese but i cant say the same about writing the characters on paper ... chinese isn't so difficult. but latin is 🪷
