4:20 when Hikaru is talking about money, I think a great point to make is that the President and CEO of FIDE is making more money than anybody outside the top 3 players in the world. Arkady Dvorkovich made more last year than anybody not named Magnus, Nepo, or Ding...That is fucking mind blowing crazy, absolute nuts.

Name another sport or formally commissioned game where the commissioner makes more than the best players. Imagine if Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA was making more than Kevin Durant, or if Rob Manfred was making more that Aaron Judge. It's ridiculous.

Magnus and Kasparov need to work together and open up their own chess organization. The two greatest players in the world teaming up would be a major headache for FIDE and hurt their bottom line.

A ton of what he said was very thinly veiled statements to FIDE, and most of the rest was very thinly veiled statements to the other players. All disguised as an interview where he just made general statements.

As an intermediate player, I once looked into entering a local tournament. Not only was the fee high, but when I started reading about possible fines you can receive, I said no.

It was very clear that I had to comply completely with the fide requirements. Some of those requirements would have been very difficult for me, as I am disabled. I love chess and play online every day, but I feel fide is out of touch.
