Thanks a lot from India. I have been misdiagnosed for anchile tendotis instead of tendopathy. Please suggest me best exercises to get back well soon.

Excellent information as always Maryke. I have a question. You mentioned niggle level of pain around level 3 during exercise. I get level 4ish pain in my left Achilles which starts around Mile 2 and stays till about Mile 5 and kinda disappears after that. Is that ok? Also for how long is the "niggle" level of pain acceptable, a week, a month?

Is there anything I can do to lessen the swelling in my leg or should I see my doctor for noticeable swelling during a flare-up?

is this the case with all tendons and joints, that ice only eases the pain but doesn't really help with the recovery?

Good to know about ice usage. I always felt like my Achilles never really benefitted (in a form of healing/not just temporary pain management) as much from an ice pack as say, like a hamstring sprain or jumpers knee. Do you all have recommendations, if there are any, for passive treatment methods like ice for the Achilles? Or is just best to place that focus on strengthening/re-aligning those fibers correctly?

Question 2: In between sets of a workout like bench press, I do some sort of a heal drop/holds with a weight in my lap for the rest and has really helped further my progress. Would it be unwise to do that, but instead of slow descents with the heal, do somewhat like a quick heal tap? Sort of Like that hyper leg bounce we do when you had too much coffee in the morning and you're stuck sitting at your desk lol. I tried it one day and ironically my healthy Achilles flared up but the one I'm rehabbing was fine. Just wanted you gals' opinion on if that's a no-no exercise.

SN: Since following you guys my Achilles has felt amazing. The best in years. Even on very sore days it's at most like a 3 or 3.5. I have confidence that doing some tippy toe holds and weighted holds in the gym will reduce any pain I get. I just kind of want to get to the point where I literally don't even think of it. Like that injury never happened. I felt like that was not feasible and that this would be a life long injury but just watching you guys and implementing your methods I can see that this can go away if treated regularly so I just really wanted to thank you all.

What do you think about taking a quick cold shower? Can it have similar effect on the achilles as ice?
