Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami) reaches the Philippines

After strengthening gradually throughout the day, Trami (Philippine name Kristine) is almost a typhoon on approach to landfall in Luzon, which is expected in southern Isabela province later tonight. The storm is packing a significant sized windfield, leading to widespread wind impacts and storm surge along the eastern coast of Luzon, with very heavy rainfall at times. The convection of Trami is displaced to the south and west due to high wind shear, meaning that central and southwestern Luzon are expecting to receive the highest rainfall, along with further heavy rain to the south on the islands of Panay and Negros.

The storm may strengthen again on the other side, as it enters the South China Sea and will approach Hainan and Vietnam over the weekend. The storm may slow down or stall off the coast of Vietnam, and could cause even more heavy rainfall there early next week.

Not only that, 98W that is soon to become Kong-rey (Leon) might become Bolaven 2.0 and may have the same track as it's 2007 and 18 self.
